THE KING’S SPEECH (OmU) Dienstag 21.06.2011

Talking Is Overrated, GB 2010, 118 Min., Director: Tom Hooper, with: Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter, Claire Bloom Rated: 0

The thing is this: The man has only one task to do – give speeches. However this is exactly what he cannot do, because he stutters. Unfortunate enough in itself, but in this case, a disaster, for he is King George VI and in rule while the 2nd World War rages on. His subjects need to hear a rousing, brilliant speech. The only hope is a rude Australian, who himself was a stutterer. Their meeting is the beginning of a beautiful, sometimes turbulent friendship.

The Oscar-winners Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth are a sensation and the film is a real miracle. So you can hear the king’s speech exercises in the original script, we show the film in English. Such exercises include the following, untranslatable monologue: “Fuck. Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck and fuck! Fuck, fuck and bugger! Bugger, bugger, buggerty buggerty buggerty, fuck, fuck, ass! ”

  1. Ne kleine Frage: Ist der mit englischen oder deutschem Untertitel. Also englischer Untertitel wäre genial.
